Pediatric anti-Hu–associated encephalitis with clinical features of Rasmussen encephalitis

چکیده
Anti-Hu antibodies (anti-neuronal nuclear antibodies, type 1) are associated with paraneoplastic encephalomyelitis in adults, especially those with small cell lung cancer. Anti-Hu antibodies are extremely rare in children, but they have been observed in neuroblastoma with or without opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome or in limbic encephalitis without associated malignancy. However, anti-Hu antibodies are not typically associated with clinical features of Rasmussen encephalitis (RE).

Autoimmune Encephalitis: A Case Presentation with Recurrent Febrile Seizures and Psychiatry Problems
Background: Autoimmune encephalitis is being diagnosed more and more often in the pediatric age group. It should be suspected in children with psychiatric symptoms, encephalopathy, abnormal movements or epileptic seizures. The most frequent autoimmune encephalitis in the pediatric is anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate (anti- NMDA) receptor encephalitis. Case report: We report a four-year-old boy with e...
متن کاملAnti-NMDA receptor encephalitis presenting with imaging findings and clinical features mimicking Rasmussen syndrome
BACKGROUND Antibody mediated anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis is a recently reported diagnosis of clinical importance. Recognition of the syndrome, especially in pediatric populations, is difficult and often undiagnosed and/or confused with neurological disorders with similar clinical features. RESULTS We report a case of an 11 year old female with explosive-onset epilep...
متن کاملO 17: Childhood Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis
Anti N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDR) encephalitis has been recognized as the most frequent autoimmune encephalitis in children after acute demyelinating encephalomyelitis (ADEM).However due to the variable the variable clinical presentation, the paucity of specific finding on standard laboratory and radiological investigation remains under recognized. First discribed in 2005, most commonly...
متن کاملO 21: A Case of Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis Who Presented with Status Epilepticus
Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis is is most common form ofimmune-mediated encephalitis with prominent neurologic and psychiatric features at disease onset. We describe a 16 years old patient who presented with fever and status epilepticus. His MRI sequences was normal. Anti-NMDAR antibodies were detected in the CSF. MRI, CT and other studies didn,t show any tum...
متن کاملOpsoclonus-myoclonus and anti-Hu positive limbic encephalitis in a patient with neuroblastoma.
Opsoclonus-myoclonus syndrome (OMS) is seen in 2-3% of children with neuroblastoma and is believed to be caused by an autoimmune process elicited by the tumor. Although long-term neurologic sequelae are common in children with OMS, limbic encephalitis has not previously been reported. We report a child who developed limbic encephalitis associated with anti-Hu antibodies, 6 years after her initi...
